Surfing For Girls

Surfing is maybe one of the oldest extreme sports we know. Although you may not know that, but surfing has been practiced for centuries. Of course the first surfers didn’t perform the tricks we see today, but were still moving along the water just by using a wood plank. Nowadays surfing is one of the most extreme and renowned sports.

Although surfing is mainly a sport which was meant for men, due to the severe danger of injuries, more and more women try this new hobby and in the end seem to like it very much. And due to that, now you can see many girls which are surfing on the beach near you. There are even small “surfing for girls” competitions which like the competitions for men offer various prices for the fastest surfer.

The reason why surfing for the girls hasn’t developed yet is mainly the lack of sponsors. There aren’t many companies interested to invest and develop such a market niche, because of the small interest there is towards it. And you can’t blame these companies, because it is very true that women surfing don’t have a lot of followers and fans.

But don’t think that surfing for girls isn’t as attractive as men’s surfing. If you are thinking this, then you are wrong. Surfing that is meant for girls is something very interesting and many women are able to perform the various tricks which the best men surfers perform. Of course most of them aren’t so good, but the important thing is that they are all training and improving.

Of course men and women who surf wear different suits. The usual swimwear for men who surf is various types of board shorts. These board shorts are very good and can provide the surfer with the reliability, comfort and safety he requires when practicing his favorite sport or hobby. Women suits on the other hand, have an appearance like ordinary swimsuits – a top and a bottom. However these suits are more secured from falling off and have some other extras too.

The surfing boards, unlike the swimwear, are practically similar. The only difference there is, is the size of the boards. Since women are smaller than men, then the boards for women should be smaller too. Of course this doesn’t mean that if you are a woman, you can’t use a big board.

Probably the most interesting part of the surfing meant for girls is the races between men and women. Such competitions are run annually and they are a very good battle. Most of you are probably thinking that men surfers win such competitions with extreme ease, but you are wrong. Although men usually win, in most cases they have a narrow win.

Girl surfing surely is a quite new sport, but it is gaining more and more speed daily, so be ready to wake up some day and see that girl surfing has turned out to be one of the top extreme sports of the world. And the reason that this hasn’t happened earlier is the lack of sponsors who are willing to invest in the development of this marvelous sport.
